Veoza is the first non-hormonal medication available in the UK specifically for treating hot flushes and night sweats caused by menopause. Veoza is suitable for women who are going through menopause and experiencing hot flushes or night sweats. It is not the same as HRT and is ideal for those who cannot, or prefer not to, use hormone-based treatments. Take one 45mg Veoza tablet once per day, at the same time each day, as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a drink, with or without food.

If you miss a dose of Veoza and there are more than 12 hours until your next dose, take it as soon as you remember. If less than 12 hours remain until your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

If you take two or more doses of Veoza by mistake, you may experience symptoms such as nausea, headache, or tingling sensations (paresthesia). Contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience severe side effects.

You can take Veoza for as long as you need under your doctor’s supervision. If you decide to stop taking Veoza, your symptoms may return unless your menopause symptoms have naturally improved.

Some common side effects of Veoza include:

A rare but serious side effect of Veoza is an allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). Symptoms may include swelling of the face, skin rash, difficulty breathing, or feeling faint. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Do not take Veoza if:

• You are allergic to fezolinetant or any other ingredient in the medication.

• You are pregnant.

• You are taking strong or moderate CYP1A2 inhibitors, such as fluvoxamine, enoxacin, mexiletine, or contraceptives containing ethinyl oestradiol.

• You are not menopausal.

Veoza may also be unsuitable if you have:

• Liver problems

• Kidney issues

• A history of oestrogen-related cancer, such as breast cancer

• A history of seizures

• Are taking HRT containing oestrogen

Certain medications can increase the amount of fezolinetant in your blood, which may increase the risk of side effects. You should avoid taking Veoza with:

• Fluvoxamine (used to treat depression and anxiety)

• Enoxacin (used to treat infections)

• Mexiletine (used to treat muscle stiffness)

• Combined contraceptives containing ethinyl oestradiol

Always consult your doctor about other medications, including over-the-counter and herbal remedies.

There are no known food or drink interactions with Veoza. However, as it is being closely monitored, you should consult your doctor if you experience any unusual side effects after eating or drinking certain things.

Veoza typically starts to reduce symptoms within a week, but it may take a month or more for the full effects to be noticed. Speak to your doctor if your symptoms have not improved after a month.
